Protecting Biodiversity - Our Flagship Species - Malleefowl Leipoa ocellata

Lifely
The Wedderburn Conservation Management Network (WCMN) is proud to work in partnership with Lifely, creating opportunities for people of all abilities to get involved in caring for our local environment.
Together, we combine hands-on conservation with community connection, making a difference for both people and nature. Lifely participants join our members in activities that build skills, friendships, and a stronger appreciation of the unique landscapes around us.

What We Do Together

-
Conservation in Action – planting native trees and shrubs, restoring wetlands, and helping to create healthier habitats for local wildlife.
-
Nature Walks and Discovery – exploring the rich biodiversity of our bushlands and wetlands, while learning about the importance of threatened species, ecosystems, and cultural values.
-
Hands-on Science – collecting seeds, monitoring plant growth, and observing birds, insects, and other wildlife to better understand how our ecosystems are changing.
-
Community and Connection – sharing a BBQ, celebrating milestones, and enjoying time outdoors together.

Why It Matters
By working side by side, WCMN and Lifely are not only helping to protect local species and habitats, but also creating a welcoming space where people can connect, learn, and contribute.
““I like planting trees and going for walks. It makes me happy to be outside with friends.” – Lifely participant
This partnership shows how conservation can be inclusive, meaningful, and fun — supporting both the wellbeing of our communities and the health of the environment we all share.
